This is a really small project, someone sent me a blank postcard with their address and a stamp on it. I drew on it and sent it off. It was part of some project she was doing for school/uni. Sorry it took me so long to do Sophia! Yeah its March and I haven't posted much on this for a while. I know it's slack. Right what have I been doing? Past 3 Months I got over my toothache, had it ripped out and was working on a building site for 3 months as commissions have been slow and also I guessed I could work in the morning on the building site and then when i get home about 4.30 I could start drawing work, which worked well as I got laid off last Friday and its already 4.30 now as I write and I've hardly done anything except beat off, and have a bath and eat a pizza and hang with my dog, went for a drive up the town sat in a que, lost my temper and fucked off before i got to the end of the que in the bank. so basically have achieved nothing. Work that I have done recently that I liked was a joint FOALS/FREELANCE WHALES release on Subpop

and then I bought a kart which I'm gunna be racing this year which is my main interest outside of art, I have been quietly working away setting up a little team to run myself, now my house has a massive merc sprinter van outside dominating the driveway and loadsa other racing parafanalia, infact if I didnt have to do art anymore id just ride motorbikes and race but something spurs me on, maybe when I retire I'll just tinker with engines. Here is the bike and one with me and the old man tinkering

Also I had an exhibition with Dave Ma and Blessing Force crew and i had a big party last week, went to the NME awards and was on telly on saturday monring when i woke up with a hangover which was surreal. Bigactive have said I'm an outside artist which i love! Here's a definition :

The term outsider art was coined by art critic Roger Cardinal in 1972 as an English synonym for art brut (French: [aʁ bʁyt], "raw art" or "rough art"), a label created by French artist Jean Dubuffet to describe art created outside the boundaries of official culture; Dubuffet focused particularly on art by insane-asylum inmates.[1]

While Dubuffet's term is quite specific, the English term "outsider art" is often applied more broadly, to include certain self-taught or Naïve art makers who were never institutionalized. Typically, those labeled as outsider artists have little or no contact with the mainstream art world or art institutions. In many cases, their work is discovered only after their deaths. Often, outsider art illustrates extreme mental states, unconventional ideas, or elaborate fantasy worlds.

The top image is something im working on with PRINCEY who is a fellow baron. This is for the work we are producing entitled: FEAR OF EVERYTHING. The second image is something I did for FOALS. It was a Metropolis Session, where they played and recorded straight to Vinyl. I produced work in the same building on the same day. There was an audience for some lucky chaps. At the end of the day a record was finished, complete with artwork. Heres a vid of the session. A small bit of me working it, in it, innit x

Her Name Is Calla, I did some work in collaboration with Liz Johnson for 'her name is calla' my friend Weikie is in the band and he asked me to do one image and as he's been a friend since primary school. He is still today one of my best friends although he live is Leicester for some fucking reason. Anyway I thought this would be sick thing to do! Everyone should check out Hannah McCague's cover and inside cover art though. My work is featured on this label and on the inside booklet.
The Concept is its lots of diferent artists works all mashed together for the booklet. I didnt make the picture disc because im so badly organised.

At the moment I'm working on a Piece of FOALS art for a lucky competition winner.

PIPES BEEN IN A BIT OF TROUBLE RECENTLY

Mr. Lawrence Williams of Black Berry Cottage, West Cot, was arrested on the 9th May for his suspected part in defacing public property.

Mr. Williams was arrested at his home late Sunday Morning, where police officers found paint spattered clothes, spray cans and graffiti paraphernalia.

Mr. Williams has admitted to the crime of defacing public property, the defendant confessed the crime was meant as a publicity stunt to promote his media website, Lights in the Woods.

The graffiti which was painted on Oxfordshire’s Cowley road, on the broadside of popular chicken restaurant Nando’s early Sunday morning. The graffiti depicted a headless horseman riding beneath the L.I.T.W banner.

With a previous caution by police for a similar offence, early in 2008, the recommended sentence was that Mr. Williams pay £5000 in criminal damages and serve 100 hours of community service. Mr. Williams escaped a custodial sentence because of his work with The Home Farm Trust, a national based charity that supports people with learning disabilities. The defence asked for a lenient sentence because of Mr. Williams’s involvement with charity projects and felt that he could do more good serving the community than serving a prison sentence.

Ive had a very busy weekend, working on bits and bobs, helped the old man with his car on saturday, today i was at the World FIA GT round at silverstone, I helped out CHAD Racing who were running a Ferrari F430. It was a bit of a ballsup and in the end the gearbox fucked up. I took some photos

The my lovely PR manager Laura got me this thing on behalf of Foals which is for a charity called 10,000 hearts i thought what the hell, theyre gettin involved with UK based bands etc and as im the art baron of the foals i dialled in one for them. I dunno how u get hold of them yet but know they will be sold on carnaby st in june!

....and tommorrow im getting a megashitbus from oxford to leeds to join foals 2010 world tour! think im just doing the english leg! but keep an eye out for me! im gunna be selling prints and bits and bobs on the stands and anyway! just come say herrooooo!

Well, what can I say, I'll level with you. Im a young man 23, live on my own with my parents i'm pretty cool, after listening to some modest rap music I get up. I irritate the dog and put on Dave. Watch some topgear and cook a fry up every morning. With no WOMAN to complain at me for clogging up my arteries. I then enjoy with some chips, toast and an egg, and a glass of orange or apple juice depending on what my mum bought for me (not pictured here).

I did some illustrations for undercurrent fashion mag recently for my friends Liz and Sally.
Liz took the photos they both directed it and sally has the writing in the article which is based on bleakness and 'the road' etc.
I hope you like the work.
For this piece we were inspired by JG Ballards vision of a "Drowned World", a cold, barren, post-apocalyptic future.
Illustration and photography work together to bolster the impact of each other. The world is ending, and this is how it is going to look: Bleak.
basically I illustrated over the top of these photos to add to the apocolyptic nature of the article. AND BLEAKNESS!

Having just graduated from Brighton where he studied illustration, Tinhead has already made a name for himself via the record sleeves of Oxford legends Foals. Working mostly with pencils and pens, Tinhead also dabbles in film, photography and in recent months printing. "I am a wizard. I have an obsession with stationary although I use probably 5 % of it. I draw mostly at nightime, like nightwolf."

Drawing from his own personal exprience Tinhead plans to bring motor racing to The Frontroom. Filling it to the brim with old imagery, sounds, videos and typography. Re building and creating moving objects within a haze of maths and physics. "It will be sheer erect drama, penetrated right into the pussy of your living room, it will smell of oil, fuel and exhaust and at times it will be very loud."

ive actually been getting down to some work.
ive been drawing a logo for transgressive records.
its for their 5th birthday!
so.....
the designs are 'five' themed
the first is basic with 2 pentagons
the second has pentagons and V's hidden in it V being the roman numeral for 5. wow!
these are unfinished the real ones will be printed on tshirts/tote bags and will be available at 3 shows at the end of the month.

2nd of all ive been continueing work for Kensington, but am having problems gettin shit signed so dunno if anything will materialise from that deal.
And ive been doing FOALS work so we'll see their shud be more shit up in the following weeks i hope.

i got drunk saturday and sunday this weekend, it was fun! it was jimmy from foals birthday so we went out and acted like bastards! they arent as good as this band though!!

before the drinking started on saturday though i went to ikea in the morning to dial my studio/room out i now have a sweet glass desk! and some cabinets!! im ready to start kickin ass!!! check out my room and my red filing cabinet!!

i also got some sweet reebok pumps and ive been telling everyone im sponsored by reebok and they kinda believe me as i sometimes go out head to toe in reebok!!

One of two S.E. Hinton novels Francis Ford Coppola directed in 1983, Rumble Fish is a stylized black-and-white film about the death of gang culture in a rough-and-tumble town full of stunted youths. The central character is the strutting Rusty James (Matt Dillon), a foul-mouthed lunkhead clad in sweaty tank tops, who passes his time at the billiards hall waiting for "something" to happen in his life. That something might be the return of his brother, known only as the Motorcycle Boy (Mickey Rourke), from exile in California. Charismatic and intelligent, the Motorcycle Boy once led numerous wide-eyed followers into battle, into the "rumbles" once commonplace in town. Rusty James wants to take over that role, but lacks the smarts necessary for leadership, nearly getting himself killed in an opening fight. The Motorcycle Boy stops the fight with equal parts efficiency and cool, and Rusty James seems delighted by his brother's return. But it quickly becomes clear that a local cop (William Smith) is still gunning for the Motorcycle Boy, waiting for him to slip up, even though the mysterious youth has developed a weary philosophy of life and a skeptical view of his former power. As the Motorcycle Boy seems more and more distant, lost in deaf and color-blind fugues, Rusty James gets into greater trouble, running afoul of his girlfriend (Diane Lane) and friends (Nicolas Cage, Christopher Penn, Vincent Spano), and seeming on the path to destruction.
